Overview
The way characteristics work in Champions is much different than in most RPGs. Each stat has its own innate bonuses (please refer to each characteristic's page for more detail), similar to other games. However, the damage done by all your attacks, regardless of what framework or individual powers you choose, is effected by your Super Stats. These give a damage bonus (diminishing returns) as you increase them to ALL your powers and other boni depending on your current Role. Certain powers (notably Healing abilities) may also garner a benefit specific to that power from one characteristic or other. Each Power Set has "recommended characteristics," these are usually the characteristics that effect several of that Power Set's powers, however they are by no means required.
