Builds
From CO-Wiki
Overview
Builds allow Freeform Characters to specialize your character by selecting different roles and by equipping different Upgrades, Block replacers, Slotted Passives, and Devices. For each character, you unlock 6 roles during the level progression. Regardless of the number of builds you use, you can still select from the same 14 powers. In other words, you will not be able to choose entirely new powers for another build.
The build tray is located in the middle lower portion of the User Interface, but above the power tray.
Build Unlocks
At each of the levels below you will unlock an additional Build. However, you cannot start using building until level 8 (at which point you will have two).
- Build 1 - Level 1
- Build 2 - Level 8
- Build 3 - Level 16
- Build 4 - Level 24
- Build 5 - Level 32
- Build 6 - Level 40
Build Interface
The Build interface can be accessed by pressing "b" or by selecting Builds from the Champions Icon on the Mini-Map. There will be up to 6 tabs on the top allowing you to select the different build you would like to work with. The name option allows you to set the name of the particular build.
Setting Builds
Each build needs to be set up individually with its own Powers, Roles, Costumes, Devices and Upgrades. To switch to the build, press "Set Build".
Roles
The drop down box to the right allows you to select the role that you would like to set. Diffrent roles provide different boni for your character.
Devices & Upgrades
Upgrades and Devices must be slotted and updated on a per-build basis, or when changing builds they will automatically unequipp back to your Inventory. In order to slot upgrades, press "i" to open your inventory tray and drag over the items to the Build Interface.
Powers
Generally speaking when setting up a new build, the current selection of powers will be applied. In order to adjust the powers in a particular build, press "p" which will bring up the Power Interface and you can drag powers from there to the Build Interface or vice-versa.
Bear in mind that your superhero will have the same set of 14 powers to choose from when setting up a new build.
Costumes
You can assign one costume to each of your Heroes builds. In order to do this:
- Switch to the build you want to change the costume for
- Right click your portrait in the top left corner of your screen
- Click on "Change Costume"
Assuming the costume is set correctly, you should see a picture of that costume in the build tray for the corresponding build.
Switching Builds
In order to switch between the builds, you can either press the corresponding F5 to F10 key to set it or click on the build you would like. If you switch roles in combat, there is a 60 second cooldown before you can switch again, whereas if you switch out of combat, it is only 10 seconds.
